    June 13th 2009 Wheelers Surprise!!
    A re-enactment: To be held in New Braintree As part of next years' 350th celebration of the settlement of the Quaboag Plantation, the town of New Braintree's 350th Anniversary Committee will be holding a series of Wheeler's Surprise events on this June 13. This will include a reenactment of the ambush, a re-enactors camp site, a video tour of the three possible locations of the battle, and a talk by Robert W. Wilder on the ambush. The Society of the 17th Century,a group that demonstrates period crafts, clothing and hand-on activities will be camping at the town center. That evening at town hall there will be a dinner, cash bar, silent auction, and a talk on King Philip's War by the author Michael Tougias.


    A limited number of tickets for the dinner with lecture will be available. $20 per person. NO TICKET SALES AT THE DOOR. They will be available at Reed's Country Store or send a check to :Quaboag 350th Committee c/o P. O. Box 112 New Braintree, MA 01531 payable to QHS350.

    Re-enactor's encampment Friday night set up till Sunday at New Braintree town center, along with the Society of the 17th Century displaying crafts and activities.

    11:30 a.m. Bob Wilder will present his theory on the location of Wheeler's Surprise. He will be speaking at the Historical Society's 1939 Grade School, town center.

    1 p.m. Video tour of the possible ambush locations and discussion at the town hall. There will also be a discussion, with Native Americans & settlers explaining their points of view of the events that occurred that day.

    3 p.m. Wheeler's Surprise Re-enactment, a free bus will be provided from town center.

    4:30 p.m. Cash bar and Silent auction start at the town hall. (Auction to end before talk)

    5:30 p.m. BBQ dinner with lecture at the New Braintree Town Hall.
