Fireworks and Festivities TODAY in EB

Fourth of July festivities on tap for this weekend EAST BROOKFIELD — By Monday evening, the first glimmer of the East Brookfield’s Fourth of July celebration could be seen at Connie Mack Field, where rides were being hauled in and assembled, and booths were already being set up, as the “Fun Slide” flashing lights twinkled in anticipation of the fun-filled festivities. The celebration will be held from 6-10 p.m. Friday, July 10 and all day Saturday, July 11, culminating in a Fireworks show Saturday at 9:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the East Brookfield Fire Association and the Friends of the Community. On Saturday, the festivities start with a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the East Brookfield Baptist Church on East Main Street. A “Parade On Wheels” starts at 11:30 a.m. on Connie Mack Drive. On the athletic fields, a dunk tank will be open all day long at 1 p.m. and face painting will start at 4 p.m. Amusement rides will open at 11 a.m., and a softball game will be held at 3:30 p.m. A magic show and firemen’s muster will also be held at 2 p.m. The duo Chuck ‘n Mud, of Spencer, will perform from 5-7 p.m., and The Bad Tickers will take the stage at 7 p.m. A $2 admission fee will be charged after 6:30 p.m., but children under 6 are free. There is no discount for senior citizens. Other activities will be available at the Hodgkins Building. An art exhibit will open at 1 p.m., along with the East Brookfield Historical Museum. Other events will be held Friday, July 10 starting at 6 p.m. The band Scarlet Fade will perform at 7 p.m., and amusement rides will be available.
