North Brookfield to conduct Educational Survey

What should our future school system look like? Your opinion and ideas are being sought by the North Brookfield Educational Taskforce. This taskforce has been established by the North Brookfield  Board of Selectmen and School Committee to look at factors like  state mandates, trends, costs, regionalization and most importantly educational programs to identify how they might impact learning and schooling over the next 5-10 years. The taskforce, made up of Deb Arnold, Marty Toomey, Gregg Sinner and Jim Metcalf, has been collecting data for the past few months and would like to include North Brookfield residents in an assessment of the data.   The taskforce is seeking to explore the community’s perceptions and opinions about the town’s public education program for children and youth.

The Taskforce created the survey as part of its responsibility to explore current and emerging options for organizing and delivering an affordable and high quality learning and schooling program for the town.

The survey document itself will be included in the town census mailing in January, 2010. All residents of North Brookfield are urged to complete the survey and return it with their census form, or drop it off at the Town Clerk’s Office.  The survey results along with identified options which the town may pursue will be made public in a forum to be scheduled in early spring. For more information contact any of the taskforce members.
