Program

Description

The Education for Employment Program provides GED preparation, life skills and pro-social skills training, career assessment, job placement assistance, and job development training.  Case management services are included to assist students with crisis situations and provide a supportive learning experience.

Population

Economically disadvantaged adolescents, ages 16-21, who have

officially withdrawn from school.

25 students annually (per location)

Referral

Sources

Schools systems, counselors, probation officers, community
agencies, friends, or a direct inquiry by the individual.

Eligibility

Individuals who have officially withdrawn from school, are between the ages of 16-21, and are functioning at a minimum 7^th grade level, AND meet one of the following: considered economically disadvantaged, receiving assistance, are in the custody of DCF or DYS, or who have a current I.E.P. (Individual Education Program) or one from a previous school.

Length of

Program

The program is self-paced.  The average length of stay is approximately six months.  Students will complete the program goals in various time frames due to current grade levels, motivation, and effort in the classroom.  Programming takes place Monday through Friday 9am – 1pm.
NOTE:  Admission is Open-Entry/ Open Exit.
