Description: Grab a paddle and join the fun in our canoes as we learn about the wildlife dependant upon this park. We’ll provide canoes, paddles, personal flotation vests, and basic canoeing instructions. You provide the enthusiasm and interest! This is a free program open to children ages 6 and older. Swimming skills are required. An adult must accompany all participants under 18 years. This program may be cancelled due to inclement weather. Please call 508-753-6087 to check program status. Wildlife Volunteer Day -- Monarch Larva Monitoring

Description: Become a citizen scientist and contribute to a national study of the monarch butterfly population. We'll search the Broad Meadow Brook butterfly garden looking for tiny monarch eggs and caterpillars. You will be trained to identify the life cycle stages of monarch butterflies and record your findings. Use your training to help monitor the butterfly garden at least once during the summer. We provide the supplies and gratitude. Your work will assist in the conservation of monarchs and their threatened migratory phenomenon. Recommended for ages 8 and older. Excursion Boat Trip on the Blackstone River

Description: Come explore the Blackstone River way down south in Central Falls, Rhode Island on the Blackstone Valley Explorer excursion boat. The wide river provides a clear view of the fabulous wildlife both on land and in the water. We'll see the Valley Falls marsh, the future spawning ground for shad, alewives and blueback herring once we build fish ladders to help the different species navigate downstream dams. After the 50-minute boat tour, we'll take a closer look at the dams and learn about the construction of the fish ladders, which are essential to effort to restore the Valley Falls marsh to its original state. Meet at Broad Meadow Brook Visitor Center and we'll ride together in the Mass Audubon van. Seating is limited to the first 10 registrants who request transportation. This program is part of the Campaign for a Fishable/Swimmable Blackstone River by 2015. For ages 10 and older. For more information and to register, call 508.753.6087. Exploring Burncoat Pond by Canoe

Description: Discover the seasonal adaptations of aquatic plant and animal life as they prepare for the cold winter months ahead. Search for aquatic plants, pileated woodpeckers, and signs of recent otter activity. View the woodland edges of the many acres of Mass Audubon property at this pristine location.Bring lunch along since we will stop for a brief stretch. Meet at Leicester's Burncoat Park, Route 9, approximately one-quarter mile east from the entrance to Burncoat Pond Wildlife Sanctuary. Canoes, paddles and PFDs are provided. Must be able to swim. The East Side Trail – Staycation Walks

Hikes are about three miles one way, with a van waiting at the end to take us back to the starting point. Uncover some of Worcester's history as we walk from Shrewsbury Street and East Park, up and over Belmont Hill, through Green Hill Park and the historic quarry, down past the old coal mine and on to Lake Quinsigamond.
