REGION – Gardens throughout the Quaboag Plantation area will be on display in the height of summer’s flowering for a self-guided tour. The Brookfield Garden Club, New  Braintree Flower Society and the Quaboag Plantation 350th committee have joined together in what promises to be a grand tour of the area’s finest gardens, according to Deborah Morrison, spokesman.

The tour, encompassing several towns, is scheduled rain or shine on Saturday and Sunday, July 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Viewers may order tickets  in advance, by mail, or tickets will be available on those days at the Brookfield common. Advance tickets are $15, same-day tickets are $20. Each ticket is good for both days, Morrison said.

“Since last fall, we’ve been asking people with gardens to contact us. We think we’ve assembled a list of truly wonderful and diverse gardens throughout the Brookfields, New Braintree and Warren. There’s a great diversity as well. Visitors will see vegetable gardens, herbal, shade, sun, formal, cottage, rock and water gardens. Just when you think you couldn’t possibly see anything different, there’s another delight to the eye and the senses just ahead. We’re very excited about this; we think it will be a highlight of the season.” she enthused.

Don Roberts has worked with Morrison to plan and organize the tour. He remarked that the tour will take viewers through the beautiful and historic towns that make up the Quaboag area. “It will surely be appealing and interesting, even instructive to many, for the gardens alone. But it also displays Quaboag communities when they may be dressed in their best, displaying historic pride. There’s history around every corner, it seems,” he said. To order tickets in advance, mail a check for $15 per person, made out to QHS 350th Anniversary, to Deb Morrison, 115 Prouty Road, New Braintree, MA 01531. “Please remember, the tickets are good for both days. You may visit on both days, for as long or as many wish, for the price of one ticket,” she smiled.
