Haston Public Library offers summer activities

NORTH BROOKFIELD – The Summer Reading Program is underway at the Haston Public Library through Aug.  14. Children from pre-school to grade six are invited to pick up a reading log in the children’s library to record the books that they read this summer. In addition, each reader will have his or her name displayed in the children’s room with a weekly tally of the books they’ve read.

Pre-school Story Time continues every Tuesday during the summer at its regular time 10:15 to 11 a.m. Pre-registration is required.

Movies will be shown in the library’s community meeting room every Wednesday in July at 3 p.m. The movies will include “Tom Sawyer,” “Ramona the Pest,” and a title to be announced later. Also at 3 p.m. each Thursday during July and August, craft activities by Lynne Losurdo and Rosemary Mackenzie will be offered. Pre-registration is required.

On Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 3 p.m., musician and storyteller, John Porcino, will entertain young and old alike with his humorous songs and anecdotes. This free performance is made possible through a grant from the Massachusetts and North Brookfield Cultural Councils. For more information or to register for programs, call Rosemary at 508-867-0208.
